It is important to remove the leaf from your soups, stew, casseroles and sauces before serving; it can get caught in the throat. I was told by an Italian Grandmother that if your stomach is not feeling quite right, brew a cup of tea with a bay leaf and sip slowly. In the North, plant out in the landscape and bring indoors in October to over-winter as a houseplant. Add a leaf to your stored grains to repel weevils.
